У статті заналізовано нові підходи до формування мовно-комунікативних компетенцій студентів-журналістів, доведено, що перехід з традиційної на конвергентну журналістику потребує нової моделі журналістської діяльності в інформаційному просторі і, відповідно, вимагає вироблення навичок “універсального журналіста”.
Competent approach in education involves orientation of the educational process on formation and development of the key (living) and substantive competencies of the individual. Each competence is built primarily on knowledge and skills, but it necessarily reflects the human’s personal conitive perception of them, associates with his life experiences, values, emotions, even with the peculiarities of behavioral components - that is, everything that can be mobilized for active action. The transition from traditional to convergent journalism brings new requirements to the organizational component of the editorial staff and journalists functioning, it leads to a change in the principles of planning and production of materials, the acceleration of production cycle of materials and their publication. That is why it requires a new model of journalistic activity in the modern information space and, accordingly, a new approach to the professional training of journalism students. Modern journalist, in addition to his creative core, needs special knowledge related to the latest advances in the field of information and communicational technologies, transformations in the modern media industry. At the same time, he must know the communicative features and norms of the literary language in their concrete historical manifestation, to have skills in regulating speech activity from normative positions in accordance with the conditions and tasks of communication, be able to propagate Ukrainian language as a state language and to find ways to counteract the distorted language / surzhik. As a result of theoretical generalization and substantiation of specific featers of students of the specialty "Journalism" professional language and communicative competences development in conditions of media system transformation and formation of converged media, one can state the importance of updating pedagogical technologies that teachers have, the teacher’s readiness to implement new tasks in professional education using the latest scientific technologies and developments. The professional competence of a journalist is an indicator of formation of professional knowledge system, communication skills and professional presentation skills in this perspective, which will make it a powerful engine for social, economic and cultural change, an integrated model of value orientations, and a common humanitarian culture.
