Linguo-stylistic peculiarities of the novels by Philippa Gregory

Abstract

Historical novels serve as a portal through time, allowing readers to cross the boundaries of eras and learn new things. These literary works are not just records of events but linguistically rich texts, employing imagery, style, and language tools to transport readers into a different age. Linguistic and stylistic analysis of literature works involves examining the language and stylistic means used in the text to uncover deep meaning of lexical and grammatical structures, their pragmatic and aesthetic effects. This analysis can encompass stylistic elements on different language levels. The aim of the paper is to study characteristic linguistic features and functions of stylistic devices in the novels by Philippa Gregory, and the stylistic and pragmatic effect they produce, as well as their interrelation.
